Things to do
Dialysis takes a few mornings or afternoons a week — the rest of the trip is yours. You book attractions yourself, directly with the venue or a ticketing site.
Planning around treatment
- Plan sightseeing for your non-dialysis days, or mornings before an afternoon session, when you tend to feel your best.
- Choose timed-entry tickets where you can, so you're not queueing in the heat or on your feet for long.
- Check how far each attraction is from your clinic and hotel, and how you'll get back if you tire early.
- Look for free cancellation in case a session is moved or you need a rest day.
- Carry water within your fluid allowance, any snacks you need, and your clinic's phone number.
- Protect your access arm: avoid tight straps, heavy bags and crowds that could knock it.
