Car rental for a dialysis trip
Whether you need a car mostly comes down to getting to and from sessions. You book any hire car yourself, directly with the rental company or a comparison site.

Working out transport
- Map the clinic run first: three round trips a week for in-center haemodialysis. Decide whether a hire car, taxis or transfers are the calmer option.
- You often feel tired or lightheaded straight after a session — plan for someone else to drive home, or a taxi that day.
- Pick a car with easy entry and boot space for PD supplies if you are carrying them.
- One-way rental (pick up at the airport, drop near your stay) can beat parking a car you barely use.
- Add the rental company's own damage cover or a standalone excess policy so a scrape does not derail the trip.
- Carry your driving licence, any required international permit, and a card in the main driver's name for the deposit.
